Mer’s Story
My partner Jordan and I had been counting down the days to meet our little girl, Emma. The moment finally came when I felt my water break, and I was a mix of excitement and nerves. We rushed to the hospital, our hearts racing at the thought of what was about to happen.
When we got there, everything felt so surreal. As the hours went by, my contractions got stronger. I tried to focus on my breathing, and Jordan was right there beside me, calming me down and holding my hand. But then my doctor mentioned starting Pitocin to help speed things up, and I felt a wave of worry. I just wanted everything to go smoothly.
Things took a turn when Emma's heart rate started to fluctuate. I could feel the panic rising, but Jordan kept squeezing my hand and whispering that we were in this together. It was such a relief when the nurses stabilized her heart rate, but I knew we still had a tough road ahead.
As I continued to labor, I found out Emma was in a posterior position, which made pushing a lot harder. I was giving it my all, and after what felt like forever, the moment finally came. With one last big push, Emma was born and placed right on my chest.
I just started crying when I saw her tiny face and dark hair.
